RE a desafio Star Tracker

Obrgado,

Joe Lambert's Ghosts

As I mentioned earlier on this blog last May 16 was the day chosen to celebrate Life Stories

From Portugal, the only contribution I could give at the time was the uploading of My Story.

What I did not knew until tonight was that the founder of CDS - Center for Digital Storytelling, my friend, menthor (and probably Jedi Knight, altough its kinda strange imagining a texan one) has also shared his first story.

This story goes back to the days where Joe was working in a theater in San Francisco where later met Dana Atchley and then all things started after Dana's hit show "Next Exit".

After realizing the potential of this new form of expression: combining stories with multimedia elements and interacting with a group of people, in the early 90's they founded CDS, a non-profit organization dedicated to assist indiviudals and organizations to tell their stories in a simple truthfull and emotional way. This is the path to establish connections, and as they say "to build community".

Joe re-edited his first digital story as a personal celebration of the International Day for sharing life stories.

It is worth taking a look.

Center for DS Portugal soon to be born

The Portuguese Digital Storytelling Center, will be formally created and announced soon.

Several projects are on track for approval, and we received yesterday from CDS Berkeley Director and founder our dear friend Joe Lambert his "seal of approval", or as he might say: a deputy sheriff star to use on the chest.

So, from now on I am designated CDS Project Director for Portugal.

None of this would be possible in the last couple of months, without the assistance and commitment of my dear friend Ines Rodrigues, and a more recent, but also dear friend Ana Boa-Ventura from UT Austin.

We will keep telling stories, but more important than that, very soon we will start to listen, assist and collect them.

Digital Storytelling at warp speed

We have been working at warp speed to implement Digital Storytelling projects in Portugal ASAP.

Altough the first “workshop” is already commissioned, and will be delivered by 'yours truly' as facilitator at UNAVE, the training Center for the University of Aveiro, we are also working hard to establish other projects, on the social and also corporate communications fields.

A long time friend, colleague, partner and now fellow evangelizer is Inês Rodrigues, whom I cannot thank enough for keeping me on track and into perspective. A truly great professional journalist and documentary director and an added value to any team.

Also with us, is now onboard and commited to assist even from a distance, Ana Boa-Ventura, the Portuguese leading academic authority on Second Life, and also a Digital Storyteller believer. Ana is handling several projects and her own PhD at the University of Texas – Austin, and her fast pace and enthusiasm is highly contagious. So be aware Oh Portuguese people: very soon there will be news about Digital Storytelling worshops, seminars, courses or whatever in an organization/company/institution (maybe right next to you).

Check this blog soon, and news will be posted.

Good english command is not mandatory, altough it will be highly appreciated as I do not have the time to translate all my blog posts into portuguese language.

To my portuguese readers an apology, but this way my english speaking friends around the world can also be updated on what's going on DST portuguese world already in motion.
